In just two short months, the Montreal Ska Festival will be back for its 6th edition! Our “family” has grown and we’ve welcomed so many musicians from around the world as well as many new – and old – fans to our events! Last year was the first time I was unable to attend (or do my spokesperson duties at) the Festival, and I really missed it. This year, I’m flying in specially to take part in this fabulous celebration of ska music!
In keeping with our growing family, I’m gathering stories from some musicians and fans about all aspects of ska (music, musicians, social, scene, nostalgia such as “first time I heard/saw”, etc.). Storytellers are very important in building an oral history of a scene. They sometimes offer us a different perspective on something we might see as only black or white. Not everything “are” 2-Tone (wink)!
Keep your eyes peeled here for actual stories! And mark your calendars for an unforgettable weekend date in mid-November!
